Our Story

Hey everyone, I know I've told the store a thousand times about how we ended up here, but this time I have pictures to go along with the story. As a lot of you know, Tim has been working in the construction industry for nearly 40 years. I quit my job and started working with him 34 years ago... and we haven't killed each other yet. We sold windows for years and decided to pick up fireplaces as a side venture to bring in a little more bill money. It didn't take very long for us to know in our hearts that fireplaces were our passion.

Since 1997, God has led us down this wonderful, exhausting, beautiful, rugged path to bring us where we are now. For several years, we were in small showroom in a strip mall on Front St. with a hand full of non-burning fireplaces just sitting on the floor. Eventually, we got a couple built in that we could light for our customers. We had milk crates for the few price sheets and four parking spots out front. The only employees were Tim, myself, and our son-in-law. We used to sit and talk about how awesome it would be to have a big showroom. We even stood outside Goody's retail store looking through the window of the locked up vacant store laughing that it would be a dream come true to someday have a store that size but there would be no way we would ever have enough fireplace stuff to fill it. Then one day our son-in-law said, "We really need to move to a new location so we can grow." We did a lot of praying and took a leap of faith. Within a few weeks we were signing a 3-year lease on Harkrider St. tripling the rent. We were struggling with the old rent, but we had faith.  Within days of signing the lease, our son-in-law gave us his two week notice because they decided to move to Texas. The bank informed us they couldn't give us an SBA loan because we didn't own the building. OUCH!!! After many tears and stressful nights, we pulled ourselves together and began to slowly renovate the building. Our landlord was wonderful. Since we were fixing up the building he let us have a few months rent free and gave us an allowance toward certain building upgrades. We remained there for approximately 8-years. The business continued to grow and we were able to start add a few new employees every year. God sent and is still sending us the most wonderful customers and contractors. So many customers, contractors, and employees have stuck with us over all the years and gone on this journey with us. This new showroom was created by God and all of you. We have loved the talks, the stories, and the inspiration you have given us.
